Ready to Work Project – Wage Subsidy Program Eligibility Guidelines Ready to Work is a wage subsidy reimbursement program designed to assist young people find full-time meaningful employment, and assist businesses find potential valuable employees. This is a free service to both clients and employers. Participants must be referred by their Case Manager. Requirements for Employers: In this program, participating employers must meet certain requirements. Whether from the private, public or non-profit sector, employers must:- Provide the Employee with on the job training as described in the training plan
- Provide the employee with the same employment terms, conditions and benefits as the employers’ other employees at the same job level
- Make all the legally required employer and employee deductions including CPP, EI, Federal and Provincial Taxes
- Maintain a work environment that complies with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation, regulations and bylaws affecting the workplace
- Maintain third party insurance coverage of 1.5million
- Maintain adequate insurance coverage under WSIB
- Pay the employee the agreed amount at the offer of employment
| - Pay the employee directly and provide mandatory benefits and deductions
- Keep accurate attendance records of employees including days and hours worked
- Submit to Gateway Café relevant payroll records signed by the employee and employer
- Provide a description of the job and evaluation information to Gateway Café and the employee regarding the employee’s progress in relation to the training plan
- Ensure that no other employee, full-time or part-time is displaced due to the employment of the employee
- Inform Gateway Café immediately if the employee has quit or has been dismissed prior to the end of the agreement
- Inform Gateway Café immediately of any accidents and/or injuries to the employee at work

Eligible Candidates: Youth between the ages of 16 and 30 (inclusive) that are job ready but need help in finding employmentOut of school Unemployed or underemployedLegally entitled to work in CanadaSubsidy: Funds are allocated according to client eligibility and employability. Immediate family members of a company’s owners or officers will not be subsidized. Minimum wage positions will not be subsidized. Subsidy Duration: Up to a maximum of 26 weeks, depending on client’s needs and employer’s work experience plan. Employment must be full time, 30 hours a week or more. Participating employers are expected to retain the youth after the subsidy ends. Payment: The wage subsidies will be paid as a reimbursement at the end of each month with the completion of a payment claim and activity report to cover this time period. Clients must be paid through your company’s payroll prior to reimbursement. The payment claim and activity report must be submitted by the 15th of each month for the reimbursement to be processed in a timely manner.
